Climate
Mauritius has only two seasons with minimal differences between them.
Summer runs from November to April, with average temperatures reaching 29 degrees Celsius (84 degrees Fahrenheit) in the warmest months. During July and August, the temperature drops a few degrees to its lowest average, but there is always plenty of sunshine. Humidity is at its highest from December to April but tempered by refreshing sea breezes.
Cyclones, with strong winds and heavy rain, can occur between January and March.
Language
English is the official language of Mauritius, but French is most widely spoken. Creole, Hindi, Urdu and Chinese are also used.
Passport Visa
The nationals of most countries may enter Mauritius visa-free whether travelling for business or pleasure, though you will need a passport valid for the duration of stay. You must hold a confirmed booking for accommodation, return or onward tickets and sufficient funds for your stay. Please check the rules around visa requirements before you travel, as they may change regularly.
A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required to enter Mauritius, if arriving within 10 days of leaving or transiting through an endemic area.
Safety
A holiday in Mauritius is usually trouble free, however precautions against petty crime should be observed.
Cyclone season is from January to May.
